Dairy Cottage is located in a small village called Skelsmergh, tucked away up a quiet country lane, yet only a few minutes drive from the bustling market town of Kendal and 15 minutes drive from Windermere.
Skelsmergh is in a rural area with a church, several farms and a scattering of houses, but its close proximity to Kendal means it is far from isolated.
The cottage is situated on the popular Dales-Way walk which offers a scenically attractive route form Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness-On-Windermere in Cumbria.
From the cottage it is a:
- 2 minute drive to Kendal
- 15 minute drive to Lake Windermere
- 20 minute drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Kendal
Kendal has a wide range of attractions which appeal to visitors of all ages.
The layout of the town is characterised by the narrow cobbled yards and lanes branching from the main street, which are strewn with antique and speciality shops. There are also a number of well known high street shops in the main pedestrianised shopping area.
The ancient ruins of Kendal Castle overlook the town and the river Kent. Kendal also boasts the largest parish church in Cumbria.
Kendal has much to offer in the way of shopping, entertainment, historic buildings, galleries and museums which means there is always plenty to do (even on a rainy day!).
